Mariarosa (Mar) Dalsass passed away tragically on Saturday, October 6, 2007. She worked as a Special Education teacher for the Toronto District Catholic School Board. She was recognized as teacher of the year for the TDCSB in 2006, and in 1998 she was recognized by the Learning Disabilities Association of Toronto as teacher of the year. Mar shared her love with many and we want to share her with you.

Mrs. Dalsass was one of the best teacher i had back when i was at dante in 03/04... i know there was times where she'd be on my case calling home or searching me through out the skoo or better yet keeping me late after skoo until i got my work done. But she did this cuz she really cared about me and she wanted me to be successful in life. The last time i spoke to her on the phone was like 2 months ago, i was tellin her how i was almost done college, graduating from police foundation she sounded so happy. I wanted to surprise her at dante da day i finally became what i wanted to be because if it wasn't for her i would of been else where. I owe it all to her!! She will be missed!!!

im 2 sad to express my feelings but my prayers go out 2 her family
heres a small poem that i found and sent to her husband through these tough times
It Won't Be Long
by Annie
You said before you died,
that I was the key to your heart.
But the truth is you were mine.
I ask the Lord above,
to answer my prayers.
That you would come back.
But, that wouldn't be fair.
I now know that you're happy where you are.
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
without any cares.
But I want you to know,
that I still love you so.
And I'll go on living for Him,
Knowing that His light will never dim.
Someday together we'll be,
But, until then, the Lord will take care of me.
So, keep on watching,
It won't be long.
That from this world,
I'll be gone.
Into your arms once again,
Safe from all the worldly harm.

Why is everyone looking at this death as a tragedy? I know its a sad thing but look at it this way, her whole life all she did was help, she lived for her students. Her time on earth was finished everything she needed to do was done, So from a catholic point of view God took her back for a job well done. Death sucks we all know that but what Dalsass had to go through was only better for her. Aslong as you will never forget her and thank her, your doing the best thing you can do for you, her or anyone. I never knew her but shes deeply missed, and Rest in peace, and a good eternal life.

R.I.P Mrs.Dalsass. My condolences' are dearly sent towards her family and loved ones. Ms Dalsass was a great person and a positive role model to all the students in the Dante community. She helped out many of us, keeping us on track, making sure we get our work done but done the right way with no excuses, helping us grow individually as a person to learn from our mistakes and become better people. She was always on the run, with so much energy. I stil remember starting at Dante in Gr10, the inspiring words she gave me to get through my days, and one of the many teachers that would always catch my uniform infractures. You've been a great help and inspiration to everyone. Thankyou for all your help. You will never be forgotten, forever in our hearts. We pray for you that you may rest in peace and may your family and loved ones find peace and strength to get through the difficult moments. Forever missed & loved Ms.Dalsass.

Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs.Dalsass and her family. For many former students from Dante she was our gifted mentor teacher, she was a devoted and committee person who always wanted the best for her students. She went out of her way to ensure that we had the most of what education could provide to us all. We are all saddened by the loss of such a wonderful woman and from all her past gifted students we can only pray that she is in a better place. May she be in peace with God and may her family seek comfort through this very difficult time. Mrs.Dalsass we will never forget your spirit and your dedication as a devoted educator.

I saw many teachers crying & some of our students. It is really sad. These drivers who went over speeding at the highway are carelessness. They seriously need to stop this shit before everyone do it. this is really sad that she died right before Thanksgiving. Mariarosa Dalsass, you have a good heart. I met Mariarosa 4 years ago when I started working at Dante. This is such a tremendous loss for our school. Ms. Dalsass was a passionate and dedicated teacher. As I saw all of her students this morning, I felt so proud because I saw a piece of her in all of them. I will miss hearing her unique laugh but most of all, I will miss her presence in Room 219. She was great to work with and was full of knowledge. This is a tough time for all who knew Ms. Dalsass. Let us get strength from the memories she left behind and always remember her passion for teaching.
To Murray, in this difficult time please take peace in knowing that Mariarosa's pursuit of success with her students will not end. She did a great job in teaching them the correct path and by seeing all of them this morning, she touched their lives in a very special way.

Hello Everyone,
I recognize many names from the postings and i know that Mar would have been truly honored by what you have written. She truly cared for all you kids.In most cases she treated you like you were her own kids. She had such a passion for teaching, and you probably never knew how happy it made her when you guys succeeded at accomplishing the little and large tasks she set out for you. I know she was tough on you in a lot of case, as the one fellow wrote about the phone calls home. But if you think about it, if she did not care, she would not have phoned home. There were many nights driving home, she spent the whole trip on her cell phone, making sure whoever was behind on a project or was in need of help in getting a project done, was going to be there at 7:30 so she could help you get it done. I would like to request that if it is possible, that you come to her funeral to let her that people cared for her. I am her husband, Murray and your tributes are appreciated.

I can't believe it....I'm so sad, she never taught me that much in resource, but I was always very observant of her. She really really cared about the students and getting them to work...unlike some teacher's who just sit there. Any teacher who actually "teaches" is truly amazing as is she. RIP Mrs. Dalsass

I remember her from Dante..but only got to know her well after I graduated from high school. Her and her husband, Murray, are customers at my work (hair salon). She came by just 2 weeks ago to get her hair done...Rob has been doing her hair for over 20 years. She would talk to me alot about teacher's college and answer any questions that I had about it. Her husband is such a wonderful man. My condolences go out to Murray and all of her family. May she rest in peace!

i never really worked with Mrs. Dalsass one on one, i just graduated from Dante in June.
But, i remember walking by her every morning, (because my locker was right in front of her classroom) and every morning she would say hi, or good morning, not even knowing who i am, nor being one of her students.
I can truly say she was so welcoming, and friendly.
I'm sure she will be truly missed at the school but students, and staff, not to mention anyone else in her personal life.
R.I.P - Maria Dalsass.

Ms. Dalsass was one of the most dedicated teachers I ever met and worked with.
She made a difference in people's life, either students, parents or other teachers.
She was an amazing person.
There are no words to describe what a special person she was.
She was there for whoever would have needed her.
She knew how and when to help, even if helped was not asked for … particularly for students with special needs, her area of expertise, besides English and history.
She was involved in many school activities, and she was so dedicated and full of energy.
Students, parents, and teachers will always remember her.
She will be always present in our memories and our hearts.
She was that type of person one would never forget, and always be remembered.
May her soul rest in peace.
Thank you Ms. Dalsass for being such a remarkable person, and thank you for touching my life.
I will always remember you!

She was an amazing teacher! ... She always said to me "you can do it, never put yourself down or doubt yourself, you can achieve as much as you want to achieve, you can do only what you make yourself believe to do" Throughout high school those were some of the encouraging words she said to me to keep me going. She made an impact on my life and got me to where I am today. Without her I would not be here and almost graduating from college. I will always remember those phone calls to my parents on letting them know how my progress was going and I must admit I used to hate them but in the end you really realize she's only doing it for you. She dedicated her life to her students. You will be dearly missed. You will always be remember in my heart and my families.

What a tragic way to end a life....young people think about the tremendous responsibility you have when you get behind the wheel of a car!
